Production Blog: Finding the Music

Image
Hello! My group recently concluded the filming and main editing of the project. Today, my job was to find the music for the film. I first discussed with my group about what type of music would be appropriate for a film in this genre. The genre is a mystery. However, the film does not appear to be mysterious throughout the whole video. It opens with a clip of the girls getting ready. This scene has a bright mood. It does not appear to be creepy or gloomy at all. So, I decided to search for an uplifting song. Since it is cutting it close on time, I had to find a royalty-free one. This is because there would not be enough time to contact an artist with popular music to be granted permission to use the song in the video. So, I went to YouTube to search for less popular artists. I also searched on Google for songs. After some research, I found the perfect opening song. This is Godless Woman by Gun Boi Kaz. Upon listening to this song for the first time, my group immediately agreed that t

Production Blog: Importing the Clips

Hello! I recently started editing my final task video. After much consideration, I decided to use the app iMovie. I chose this platform over CapCut because I was more familiar with its features and I felt more comfortable using the app. The first thing I did was import the videos. Since we filmed on Mela’s iPhone, she airdropped me the clips to edit. My group mates and I all planned on using one phone to edit. This is because it would make the process go much smoother. So, after I received all the clips from Mela, I began to edit. I imported all the clips into iMovie in the order the scenes will appear in the film. This creates simplicity in the editing process. I started trimming each clip to the desired length. Since the video had to be under 2 minutes long, getting the perfect length of each clip was tricky. I made the less relevant scenes shorter, as they did were more of filler scenes than ones that providing necessary details. Like the scene where the girls are saying bye to Mel

Production Blog: Choosing an Editing Platform!

Hello! My group recently concluded filming the final task video! It was a long and tedious process, but it was worth it. Now, it is time to edit. First, I thought about which editing platform to use. I looked into two main apps. One of the apps was iMovie. The other one was CapCut. I have used both of them before. The experiences I have had with both apps were relatively smooth. Therefore, I had to weigh the pros and cons of each app. First, I looked into iMovie. This app has been around for almost my whole life, so I am very familiar with the app's features. I have used iMovie for many projects before, including some projects for this class. However, my group did use CapCut for the last project, the music video. Even though I have used CapCut a few times, it has been for smaller and less complex projects. This video is much more complicated than previous projects I have created before. Due to the amount of titles that I would be adding to the video, I was beginning to lean toward

Production Blog: Filming the Final Scenes!

Hello! My group finished filming the film! Last week, my group filmed all the scenes that took place at Mela's house. This week, my group concluded filming. The first thing my group did this week was go to the beach. I brought the tripod and filming device. Mela and Lindsay brought the other props for the film. My group started in the parking lot of the beach area. I set up the tripod near the car so I could record my group parking the car. This clip will add suspense, as it will be a wide angle of the parking lot, showing the atmosphere. After recording this quick clip, I brought the tripod closer to the car to film the scene where the characters find the bottle and begin to gain suspicion. This scene was relatively simple and fast to produce. Then, my group headed towards the restaurant to film the main section of the film. I thought that it would be best if my group filmed the scene first before actually enjoying the meal together. So, I set up the tripod and began to film. Thi

Production Blog: Filming Begins!

Hello! My group and I began filming yesterday! The scheduling conflict settled and my group took advantage of the free time! The first thing that I did was pack up all the props. I put all the materials in a tote bag. Then, I headed out the door to go to my group mate Mela’s house. When I arrived, I put my bag down and began to create a plan for filming. While I made the plan, my group mates evaluated the props I brought and the tripod to make sure they were eligible. They decided the props and tripod were perfect for the video. My group got right to work. The first thing that my group did was film the bathroom scene. I set up the tripod and adjusted it accordingly so that it was a medium-long shot. This would allow the viewer to capture the authenticity of the scene by being able to read the girls body language. The bathroom scene was fairly simple to film. This is because it is just three girls getting ready for dinner. The following scenes were still pretty easy. I set up the tripo

Production Blog: Updates on Filming Schedule

Image
Hello! My group and I have recently begun preparing to film the Final Task video. My group has had some major schedule changes in the past couple of weeks. The original plan was to begin filming this past weekend. However, due to the Super Bowl and my wisdom teeth surgery, my group had to postpone. This caused some panic in the group as the time is running short to film the project. This conflict does seem like a major setback, but it is not going to stop my group. My group will get through the troubles. After much discussion, my group tried scheduling to begin filming this Tuesday after school, but that date did not work for Lindsay. Then the next idea was to film Wednesday or Thursday, but those dates did not work for Mela. Another idea was to start this weekend, but that does not work with my schedule. So, my group is quite stressed about when filming will begin. But, there are still a few weeks until the project is due. I have no doubt that my group will utilize any free time to w

Production Blog: Gathering the Props

Image
Hello! My group has had some last minute scheduling conflicts. However, they are dissolved now for the most part. So, with the new filming and editing schedule in place, my group and I have been preparing for filming. I have been gathering all the supplies that my group needs for productions. The first item I gathered was my tripod stand. It was used for the music video project, so it was not too hard to find in my house. The first thing I did when I found it in my playroom was clean it off. This is because it had some dirt on it from the previous video filmed. After cleaning it, I set it down for a few hours to let it dry. After it dried, I placed the tripod in the corner of my room. Next, I gathered some other props my group needs. I found a small purse in my closet which would be perfect for the car and restaurant scene. There were some miscellaneous items in the purse, like random lip balms and coins, so I cleaned it out. I then placed the purse with the tripod. Also, I found a sm

Production Blog: Scheduling Conflict!

Hey bloggers! My group and I have faced an obstacle. My intentions were to begin filming this weekend, but that is no longer possible. When discussing the schedule, my group forgot to look at the calendar of important events and days. So, my group completely forgot the fact that this upcoming weekend is a nationwide celebration. Also known as, The Super Bowl. My group intended to begin filming on Saturday, the day of preparation for Super Bowl Sunday. So, now my group is forced to reschedule. But rescheduling is still a big issue. The day my group intended to wrap up filming is not doable either. This was going to be February 18th. However, I have a major conflict for this day. Just a few days before the 18th I will be having surgery to get my wisdom teeth out. Therefore, I will need to weekend to recover and will not be able to film on the 18th of February.  This scheduling conflict has disrupted our entire plan and now my group has to make a whole new one. While this is a drastic ch
