Hello! My group and I are starting to wrap up the music video. This past weekend, I continued to edit. With the first six scenes imported into the editing app, the music video was nearly two minutes long. Since the video cannot exceed one minute and fifteen seconds, I knew I would have to do a significant amount of editing. While I suggested which scenes to cut and keep, Kemora physically edited the video on her iPhone. For example, the beach block opened with multiple establishing shots of the setting. I decided that all those overviews are not necessary and that keeping one or two of these establishing shots would be more efficient. The two I suggested keeping were the ones with the grass in the sand as well as the palm trees and the apartment landscape. That is because they both show the beach setting and its surrounding environment. However, when my group is done editing, if the video still exceeds the time limit, I will suggest that I cut one, if not both, of the beach establishi

Hello! Last week, my group and I began filming the music video. Immediately after filming each scene, my groupmates reviewed all the clips to make sure all the elements of the film were included. After wrapping up filming for the day and checking the quality of each clip, my group and I began to edit. Since my group used multiple cameras for filming, my group had to import all the clips into the editing app. My group accomplished this by iMessaging the videos in a group chat with every member of the group, that way everyone could view the clips. Kemora volunteered to do the editing on her iPhone since she has the most experience with editing.     Next, every member of my group helped to edit the music video. At this point in time, my group had not filmed every scene yet, so only a few clips could be imported. After uploading each video into the editing app, CapCut, I added the song. Once again, the song my group chose was All the Stars by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. After adding the

Hello bloggers! My group and I have begun filming for the music video project! Since I was in charge of props, I made sure to look at the checklist I made before leaving for the production site. The most necessary prop was the tripod, which I triple-checked to make sure I brought. Upon arriving at the first filming location, I looked at the storyboard to see the planned angles. My group did not film the scenes in order as they will appear in the video. This is because my group wanted to film the longer and more extravagant scenes first. However, as an exception, my group filmed the car scene first, as it would have been the quickest. I was in charge of making sure the lighting was appropriate. My group filmed the mall scene next. My group set up the tripod in a store in the mall after scouting out a good filming location. I searched around the area for any items in the store we could use in the film. I found some sweaters right near the camera that I thought would be good props. A

Hello! Today my group found ourselves in a small predicament. While the original plan was to begin filming today, productions had to be postponed. This is due to uncontrollable circumstances. The mall that my group intended to film at is currently undergoing construction. As a result, my group decided to push back productions another week to avoid distractions. Before my group decided to reschedule, I talked to my mom about the production plan. I explained to her the concept of the project and the song my group chose and the ideas my group came up with. My mom offered to drive my group and me to the mall. Anyhow, my group did not need a ride, as the productions had to be postponed.      However, I did not stop my preparations. I continued to search for the necessary props. I made a more definite list of the props needed for the music video. This list included a picnic blanket, food props for the picnic, pickleball equipment, and much more. I located the picnic blanket as it was st

Hello! I have begun my music video. In the past week, I have chosen the song for the video, researched other songs in that genre, and planned my productions. My group and I have not begun filming yet, as that is for later this week. The past few days my group and I planned what days filming will occur. Also, my group discussed where will film the music video. My group originally planned to film this weekend, but now my group will have to push back productions. This is because one of the group members had something come up, so they are no longer available on the planned date. However, my groupmates are flexible and understanding of each other's circumstances. So, my group and I are talking through when productions will occur. Filming will likely occur throughout next week, as those days are suitable for everyone in the group.      Furthermore, since my groupmates will be coming to my house one day in the coming weeks for filming, I planned the schedule. There are three scenes

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is having a fantastic day! The song genre that my group selected is R&B. The conventions for this genre's music videos are ideally the same. The music videos generally feature slow or fast emotional beats and often feature powerful lyrics and stories. Here is the research we did on different music videos in the R&B genre.  All the Stars- Kendrick Lamar and SZA CAMS -Wide shot. -Medium shot. -Close-ups. -Extreme close-ups. -Over-the-shoulder shot. -Eye level angel. CLAMPS -Props: phones, headphones, and journals. -Costume(s): tend to be simple and corresponding colors. -Location(s): old town, empty white field with panthers, black room filled with stars. SOUND -Non-diegetic: the music video song. -Diegetic sound -Dialogue: the introduction before the song starts. EDITING -Slow transitions. -Reverse shot. Dim coloring. I Feel It Coming- The Weekend CAMS -Medium close-up. -Wide shot. -Close up. -Low angel. -Two-shot. -Extreme close-up.

My Group for the Music Video

Image
Hello! I have recently formed my group for the music video. I chose to work in a group. My group mates are Mela Holton, Lindsay White, and Kemora Whitelocke. I chose to work with them because I am very compatible with all of them. I have worked with them all on different projects for various classes, so I am excited to work all together. While I could have worked on this music video by myself, I opted to work in collaboration with others so that the video could be as creative as possible. The video would likely be more creative if put together by a group rather than just me because everyone's ideas would be considered and combined.      Furthermore, the song my group chose is All The Stars by Kenrick Lamar and SZA. While my group discussed which genre of music was best to use for the video, Kemora took notes on the most likely options. The best genre for a music video, in my opinion, would be hip-hop or rap. Generally, anything upbeat and fun. I thought of various songs that
