Production Blog

Hello! My group concluded productions today! After many long days of hard work and dedication, I am pleased to see the video come together. First, my group went to my house to film the opening and closing scenes. Lindsay put together the photo book, so I gathered the props to be placed around it. I suggested using a makeup brush and a hair clip as props. While I set up the props, Kemora and Mela worked on the camera angle and setting up the tripod. After a couple takes, my group recorded the perfect shot. Next, my group walked a couple blocks to my local Starbucks to film the next scene. Upon arriving at the coffee shop, I realized I had forgotten to grab the tripod for the camera. So, Lindsay and I quickly walked back to my house to get it and then made our way back to Starbucks. For this scene, each person was doing a different task. I was working on math homework, Mela was writing in a notebook, Lindsay was listening to music while writing, and Kemora was scrolling on her iPhone. Kemora had the idea to film a shot of the whole group walking out of Starbucks, however, due to the wind, the tripod would not stay up. As soon as I walked away from the camera to be in the view, the tripod fell over with Lindsay's iPhone on it. I quickly ran over to see if the phone was broken, and luckily, only the screen protector cracked.

Furthermore, my group went straight to the next filming site, which was a pool. My group quickly walked there, as my group was running short on time. At this point, my group had about 30 minutes left to film for the day. My group filmed the pool scene remarkably fast, despite a slight setback, then rapidly went on to the tennis court scene. This small setback was that the camera stopped recording and my group had to refilm, but this was very minor. At the tennis court, my group and I discussed for a couple minutes how this scene would be shot, and we decided to do a pan shot and a Dutch angle. Next, my group briskly went to the playground to film our final scene. After a couple of funny bloopers, I am delighted to say my group called it a wrap. I had such a joyful time filming with my groupmates. I am so proud of everyone's hard work and I cannot wait until the next group project.
